What is Keeping It Kleen?
Keeping It Kleen is a web-based food safety and sanitation training program designed to give all of your employees the basic job specific knowledge needed to keep your customers and restaurant free from food borne illness.
How does Keeping It Kleen differ from other food safety and sanitation training programs?
Keeping It Kleen was created to reach the employees that may not normally receive food safety and sanitation training. Our training is broken down into individual modules using an entertaining and short script in an effort to keep employees attention and focus. The training is not intended to be taken in place of any State mandated training.
How much does Keeping It Kleen cost?
To become a Participating Keeping It Kleen Member, it costs $29.99 per month for 12 months. You receive 10 free training modules. After that, all trainings cost 1 credit which is equivalent to $10.00
"Registration" Questions
How do I set up a user name and password?
Your User Name and Password are set up by you during the registration process. Your User Name will be the same as your primary email account.
What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, go to the login page and click on “Forgot your Password”. The system will reset your password by sending you a new password via email to your email address
How do I change my password?
Under Account Settings on your Employer dashboard, if you click on “edit” you can change your password and any other personal or business information.
How do I edit my personal and business information?
Under Account Settings on your Employer dashboard, if you click on “edit” you can change your password and edit any other personal or business information.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept the following forms of payment; Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express
Do you keep my credit card information on file?
Yes, we securely keep your credit information in order to process the monthly re-occurring billing.
Is my credit card information safe?
Absolutely, Keeping It Kleen is an Authorize.net Verified Merchant. The Verified Merchant Seal is displayed on our payment check out page. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for more information.
How many months is the re-occurring billing in place?
The re-occurring billing is set up for 12 months.
How can I cancel my Participating Membership?
When you signed up you agreed to our Terms of Service which state that the program can not be cancelled during your 12 month commitment and the payments are non-refundable.
What’s a Credit?
An Employee must pay for each individual training request with 1 credit. Each credit is worth $10.00 and the more you buy the more money you save.
How can I get a receipt for my monthly billings?
Login to your Employer Dashboard and click on “My Account”, a drop down menu will appear. Click on “Purchase History” and there you will see a full list of your purchase history.
"Employee Dashboard & Training" Questions
How do I add an employee?
On your Employer dashboard, click on “Add Employee” button or click on “My Account” and then “Add an employee” and simply enter the required information.
What employee information do I need?
In order to send an employee a training link, you will need the employees name, email address (it’s ok if they don’t have one) and know what position they work within your organization.
How do I edit an employee’s information?
To edit an employee’s information, click on the employee’s name listed on the dashboard. A pop-up window will appear with the employee profile, make the needed changes. Click “Save Changes” when complete
How do I delete and employee?
To delete an employee, click on the employee’s name listed on the dashboard. A pop-up window will appear with the employee profile. Click “Delete Employee”
What training modules are available?
We have 5 different training modules:
1. What to do and not to do during a Health Inspection (recommended for all staff members)
2. Personal Hygiene (recommended for all staff members)
3. Receiving & Storage (recommended for any staff members who receive deliveries and all kitchen staff)
4. Food Handling Basics (recommended for kitchen staff specific to food preparation)
5. Food Preparation (recommended for kitchen staff specific to food preparation)
Are the training modules mandatory per the Health Department?
No they are not. The Keeping It Kleen is a voluntary program and is intended to give all employees the basic food safety and sanitation knowledge needed to perform their job safely.
How much does an individual training cost?
Each training module costs 1 credit which is equivalent to $10.00
What’s a Credit?
An Employee must pay for each individual training request with 1 credit. Each credit is worth $10.00 and the more you buy the more money you save.
How can I see how many credits I have left?
Your available credits are posted on your Employer Dashboard
How do I purchase more credits?
Credits can be purchased when your account is first set up. You can also purchase them directly from your Employer Dashboard.
Do my credits expire?
No they do not. As long as you are a Participating Member, your credits will not expire.
How do I send a training request?
When on your Employer Dashboard, click on “Send Training”. A new window will appear with a list of your current employees and the available test modules. First, choose the training module (s) then choose the name (s) of the employee and click send. The employee will receive the training request in their email box. Remind employees to CHECK THEIR SPAM FOLDERS just in case.
Also, if the employee doesn’t have an email address the training is sent directly to your email address (the primary address on the account)
What if an employee doesn’t have an email address?
That’s ok! When setting up an employee on your dashboard, simply click the “No E-Mail Box” and all training requests for that employee will be sent directly to your email address (the primary email address used for the account). The employee’s testing progress will be tracked as usual on the dashboard.
Does the training request link that I send to my employee ever expire?
Yes, the employee will have exactly 15 (fifteen) days to take the training and the test. After 15 days, the link will expire and not give the employee access to the training module.
How will I know the status of the training requests?
You have two ways to do this. First you can view the status of the training (Sent date, Passed, Failed) on your Employer Dashboard. Second, you will receive an automatic email as soon as an employee passes or fails (after the second try) each training module.
What languages are the trainings in?
Currently the training videos and test copy are in English however we will be introducing Spanish shortly
Do the trainings cover each individual Health Departments specific regulations?
Our trainings are based on the FDA Food Code 2009. Check with your local regulatory agency for specific requirements
How long will it take my employee to complete a module?
It will take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending upon employee’s abilities.
Will the employee instantly know the test results?
Yes, the employees are brought to a Results page after submitting their final answer
What is a passing grade?
A passing grade is a 70% or higher (no more than three (3) answers incorrect)
What if the employee fails the test, can they re-take it?
Yes, the system is set up for the employee to instantly watch the video again and re-take the test a second and final time before you get notified.
How can I print off a Completion Certificate?
On the Employer Dashboard, click on “Print Certificates” then choose which Certificate you would like to print. The Certificate of Completion can be printed in color or black & white. Hang the Certificates proudly on the wall!
Can employees print off a Certificate of Completion?
Yes, employees can print off their Certificate of Completion immediately or later from the PDF file that is sent directly to their email address.
Does the Certificate of Completion expire?
Yes, the certificate expires in 3 years from the date the test was completed.
"Kleen Up Your Image" Questions
Can I use the Keeping It Kleen logo in my marketing efforts?
We provide you with a dated “Participating Member” Keeping It Kleen logo file for you to use in any of your marketing. Use of our standard keeping It Kleen logo is not allowed. Please check our Logo Usage Guide which is found in the “Kleen up your Image Tool Kit” under “Resources” on your dashboard.
Should I tell customers about Keeping It Kleen?
Absolutely, let your customers know about that you have made food safety and sanitation a priority at your restaurant.
When does my 60-day Free Trial of Constant Contact start?
It starts as soon as you sign up. You can find the start up link in the “Kleen up your Image Tool Kit”
"Employee" Questions
I received a Training request, what do I do?
Simply click on the link that is in the body of the email and follow the steps provided.
Will the training request link expire?
Yes, you will have exactly 15 (fifteen) days to take the training and the test. After 15 days, the link will expire and you will not have access to the training module.
How long does the training module take to finish?
It will take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes
When will my Certificate of Completion expire?
Yes, the certificate expires in 3 years from the date the test was completed
I lost my certificate, can I get a replacement?
Check with your employer
What is a passing grade?
A passing grade is a 70% or higher (no more than three (3) answers incorrect)
I took the training at my last job; do I need to take it again at my new job?
That’s up to your employer; he/she may want you just to take it again as a refresher course.
How is this different from a mandatory Food Handlers Certificate?
Keeping It Kleen was created to reach the employees that may not normally receive food safety and sanitation training.
